A Promise Broken

Okay, so we, as writers, tell ourselves the same thing every day. "Today, I will write on my WIPs." Then, the day happens, and when the evening hits, we simply want to put up our feet and turn off our brains. I mean, who can blame us, especially in this chaotic year. I have been really guilty of this recently.
During the day, I use my phone to write on my novels; a little here and a little there. As I write, or rather type, I think to myself, I am going to transcribe this when I get home and then add to it. But do I do this? Go ahead and say it. I know the truth is easy to see...so, do I? Nope. I put up my feet, do a few word puzzles, and then open Word. And what do I do? Do I write? Do I transcribe? Nah! That would be logical and helpful. So, how do I waste an entire evening. I read. That's right! I read what I have already written, getting lost in my own little world. Next thing I know, I look up and it is 2 AM.
So, I am making myself transcribe...not now, of course. Tonight, (after my nap, which is a Sunday must) I will transcribe the thousands of words from my phone to my computer. Last time, I transcribed over 10,000 words for ONE novel. Fingers crossed that I will be so lucky as to have another 10,000 words to transcribe.
Tonight, is the night I keep my word to myself.
